CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHN] — Earlier this afternoon at approximately 4:30pm a fire broke out in an apartment building on Union Street between Troy and Schenectady Avenues. The fire was in an apartment on the first floor of the building. Residents were seen evacuating the building while the acrid smell of smoke could be smelt all around the building.
911 was immediately called, the fire department and the NYPD were then immediately dispatched.
FDNY’s response time was really fast to 1635-41 Union Street, with several trucks and many ambulances on standby just in case of injuries, they managed to limit the fire damage to only one apartment. The fire was deemed under control after several minutes of fighting the fire, and thank g-d there were no serious injuries reported.
Initial reports have the fire tagged as a “suspicious kitchen fire” but the cause of it is still unknown.
