Apartment Fire in a Large Residential Building on Eastern Parkway

CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHN] — While thousands of Chasidim were Farbrenging around Crown Heights in honor of Yud Tes Kislev a fire broke out at around 7:00pm Tuesday evening in an apartment building occupied by Jewish residents located on Eastern Parkway between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues. The fire broke out in an apartment on the fifth floor.
Shmira, FDNY and Hatzalah were immediately called and were told that people were trapped in their apartments, which B"H turned out to be false. A Shmira member who was first on scene ran up to the fifth floor and assisted residents in evacuating their apartments. FDNY responded and had the fire, which was confined only to one apartment, under control within minutes and completely out. A Shmira member also treated a fire fighter who was slightly injured while extinguishing the blaze.
Baruch Hashem their were no serious injuries.
