CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn [CHN] — At 10:55pm Sunday night, a quick moving fire raged through a non-Jewish home on the corner of President Street and New York Avenue.

A Shmira member and a Lubavitcher Bocher who live nearby and happened to hear the loud screams for help immediately called 911 and sprang into action by helping two occupants who where trapped inside the house escape the smoke and flames thru a second floor window.

FDNY’s response time was fast and huge, many ambulances were on standby just in case of injuries. The fire was deemed under control after nearly an hour of fighting the fire, and thank g-d there were no serious injuries reported.

The fire began in the basement and quickly spread through the entire house, with flames shooting from the windows and the roof.

It is unclear what exactly started the fire, fire marshals are investigating.
