A few months ago the Lubavitcher Yeshiva was sent a picture that was published in today's HaMevaser newspaper in Eretz Yisroel. The picture came complete with the claim that this is the picture of the Alter Rebbe's holy countenance and has been handed down throughout the generations for the past 200 years.

The picture was sent for examination to experts in the field. Some of the Lubavitcher experts pointed out that a scar on the nose is obvious. According to Lubavitcher tradition, the Alter Rebbe had a scar on his nose.

One of the experts related that he was sent the picture last year, from the yeshiva, to check the age of the paper.

The picture of the Alter Rebbe that we all know so well is a verified one, painted when the Alter Rebbe was jailed.
