Gov. Cuomo to Spend $4.4M to Fund 325 Electric Car Stations
New York officials are spending $4.4 million to fund hundreds of electric-vehicle charging stations around the state.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo says the money will go to 10 businesses, municipalities and agencies to help bring 325 new charging stations online. Promoters of electric vehicles say they run cleaner than gas-powered cars and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
Among the recipients are the City of Rochester, the owners of Price Chopper Supermarkets and the New York Power Authority.
The charging stations are supported by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the U.S. Department of Energy.
