Videos: The Mamesh Music Band Performs In Crown Heights!
In front of parents and friends, 40 Crown Heights boys took their respective instruments and played at an end of year recital.
120 people packed into Rubashkin's home President Street in Crown Heights to watch the first ever Mamesh Music end of year recital last Wednesday where 40 boys performed on their respective instruments and received their Certificates of Achievement.
The evening began with 1st year students and 'keyboard ensembles', followed by the more advanced keyboard and piano students.
The highlight was the Mamesh Orchestra, consisting of 16 students and their teachers performing 'Bar Yochai' and Tzemach Tzedek's Yemin Hashem to the delight of all present.
Both students and parents then got to witness a special performance of the boys' teachers performing 'Ashreinu', 'Lechatchile Ariber' and "N'ye Zeritzi'.
After these inspiring moments, a few words were spoken about the Parshah and about the importance of translating every inspiration into positive actions.
The evening closed with gifts of appreciation to the teachers, and the end-of-year certificates given to the students. They all worked hard to learn their instruments and perform so beautifully at this special event.
The recital
marked the end of the first successful year at 'Mamesh Music', a new
after school program to teach children in Crown Heights to play Nigunim
on musical instruments, including piano, flute, drums, violin and
guitar.
Mamesh Music
also includes a girls' division. The girls' first end-of-year recital
was last Thursday. It included impressive performances by a guitar
ensemble, a violin-keyboard ensemble, and also a special performance by
the two girls' teachers: Mrs. Chaya Mushka Goldstein and Mrs. Dana
Pestun.
This summer
Mamesh Music will be offering an exciting 3 week summer course for boys
in both July and August. Regular classes for boys and girls will be
starting with the coming school year.
