37 Chabads Get Security Funds

CrownHeights.CH and Collive.com identified 37 Chabad affiliated centers who are the recipients of a coveted Homeland Security grant.

The threat is on a high, the funds are low.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security released the full list of institutions that will be receiving a grant from the Urban Areas Security Initiative Nonprofit Security Grant Program's reduced budget.

The grant provides funding for "target hardening and other physical security enhancements and activities to nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack and located within one of the eligible urban areas."

Notwithstanding the recent cutbacks, Jewish synagogues and centers will receive 97% of the funds, or $9.7 million.
