Yechezkel Goldsztajn, 67, OBM
R' Yechezkel Goldsztajn, a pioneer of the Chabad community in S. Paulo, Brazil, whose home was open to all, passed away.
R' Yechezkel Goldsztajn, a respected member of the Chabad community in S. Paulo, Brazil, passed away Thursday, Tammuz 22, 5772.
He was 67.
Goldsztajn, an engineer, was a pioneer who helped with the development of Chabad institutions in the city and stood by the Shluchim of the Rebbe whenever possible or needed.
Goldsztajn himself was a motivator to many Jews to reconnect with their heritage. His and his wife Rivka's apartment on Rua Peixoto Gomide was described as a "home away from home."
Guests of the community and tourists found an open door and heart at the Goldsztajns and Yechezkel wouldn't miss an opportunity to inspire them for the better.
The family estimated the number of people he brought closer to Yiddishkeit over the years was in the hundreds.
"His house was a 'home away from home' to many people from all over the world, as well as a "hotel" to people from the community," said a family friend. "He will surely be missed by all those who were his guests."
What he was especially proud of was the beautiful family he raised and the grandchildren continuing with the chassidishe atmosphere of his home - some of them serving as Shluchim.
He is survived by his wife Rivka and their children Devorie Eskinazi - Brazil, Rudi Alpern - Kfar Chabad, Chani Begun - Brazil, Nechama Dina Tzfasman - Brazil, Sari Gornstein - Brazil, Libi Nurkin, and Gershon Avraham- Brazil.
The levaya will be held Friday, July 13. Nichum aveilim can be sent to Goldsteinbrazil@gmail.com.
