Dear Anash,
We are happy and proud to continue our Summer Shiurim program for the 6th year. Last night, Thursday was the first summer session. Please remember that your learning Torah is the Chut Hashedra the spine that keeps and supports you and your family. This year we have the first Month.

Alternate side parking (street cleaning) regulations are suspended on Friday and Saturday, July 3-4, for the observance of Independence Day. Because Independence Day is a major legal holiday, parking meter regulations are also suspended on Friday and Saturday. On major legal holidays, stopping, standing, and parking are permitted, except in areas where stopping, standing, and parking rules are in effect 7 days a week (for example, “No Standing Anytime”).

A gathering, seudas mitzvah and siyum mishnayos commermorating the shloshim of Reb Shmuel Leib Strauss of blessed memory, will take place Thursday 11 Tammuz – July 2 2009 8:30pm in the shul which he founded ANSHEI N.E.L.M. (North End Lubavitch Minyan) 960 St. John’s Place (between Brooklyn and New York Avenues) which will be renamed BEIS SHMUEL LEIB ANSHEI N.E.L.M. in his memory. We ask all friends and mispallelim to please come and participate.

I live on Carroll Street corner Albany Avenue. During recent weeks I am seeing the police pull people over next to my house and writing them tickets. This can occur, without exaggeration, every 10 - 15 minutes for an entire afternoon.

A live viewing of this web rally will take place at the Shluchim Lounge in The Shluchim Center to accommodate the many Shluchim who will be in Crown Heights. This rally is open to Anash families as well.

This Sunday, June 14 2009, Chof Bais Sivan, Reb Michoel's Minyan will host a Siyum Sefer Torah honoring the life and legacy of R' Michoel Teitelbaum OBM.
The Siyum, final writing of the letters, will begin 10:30am at Ohoeli Torah Mesivta at 417 Troy Avenue. The procession will begin at 11:45 and will proceed up Troy Avenue onto Crown Street where the Talmidim of Lubavitcher Yeshiva will join the Tahalucha. It will then proceed to Kingston Avenue and will head to 770 where 'Atah Horaisah' and Hakofos will take place and will continue at Oholei Torah.

The 71st Precinct Community Council will host its 15th annual Family Day Picnic this Sunday, June 7, 2009 from 11:30am to 5:00pm. This started after the violence that occurred in 1991, this event brings together all the residents of Crown Heights to a fun and family-oriented event. This year, the event will start with a parade along Empire Boulevard, culminating in a picnic in Lefferts Park at East New York Avenue (between Kingston Avenue and Albany Avenue).

Hadar Hatorah would like to invite Anash to join us for a Siyum Sefer Torah Celebration in memory of Faiga Sarah bas Reb Yonah Yitzchok this Sunday, June 7, 2009 - 14 Sivan 5769. The program will begin at 1:00 PM at 824 Eastern Parkway, between Kingston and Albany Avenues.

A BOYS HEADSTAFF meeting will take place on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM in Crown Heights at the Tzivos Hashem Resource Center at 332 Kingston Avenue (between President St and Carroll St). All Head Counselors, Learning Directors, etc., who will be running overnight/day camps are expected to attend.

Alternate side Parking rules will be suspended on Friday and Shabbos, May 29-30 due to the Holiday of Shevuos but all other regulations will remain in affect, including parking meters, make sure you don’t park at a meter or you will get ticketed.

It was a Friday night. The family was finishing their Shabbos meal when their 2 year-old suddenly began to choke on a small piece of watermelon. The panicked parents tried the traditional slaps on the back, but it failed to dislodge the obstruction. The child began to turn blue from lack of oxygen, R”L. Fortunately, an uncle, who had been taught the Heimlich maneuver years before, happened to be on hand. He quickly sprang into action, lifted the child and began to repeatedly perform the technique.

There will be a Siyum Sefer Torah in memory of Reb Baruch ben Harav Moshe Lieblich OBM, it will take place on Tuesday, May 26 2009, the 3rd of Sivan. The final writing of the letters will take place at 1:00pm at 785 East 2nd Street (between 18th Avenue and Avenue F) and there will be tahalucha at 3:00pm to 841 Ocean Parkway for hakafos. The Torah will be placed in its new home at United Lubavitcher Yeshiva of Ocean Parkway.
